How to take Lexapro

Lexapro can be taken with or without food. The normal prescribed dose for Lexapro is one 10mg or 20 mg tablet in the morning or evening time. To avoid running out of Lexapro or missing a dose, fill your prescriptions ahead of time. Remember to follow your doctor's advice exactly. Do not stop taking Lexapro even if you start feeling better.

Lexapro precautions

Use caution when taking Lexapro with tricyclic antidepressants. Do not take Lexapro with any other antidepressants without consulting with your doctor first. If you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) to treat depression, you must wait at least 14 days after quitting before you can take Lexapro. If you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or if you are nursing talk to your doctor about the risks involved with taking Lexapro.

Side effects of Lexapro

Lexapro is well tolerated by most patients. In clinical studies the most frequently reported side effects with Lexapro were nausea, insomnia, problems with ejaculation, drowsiness, increased sweating, and fatigue.
