Nasacort is a prescription nasal spray used to treat symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergies.

How to take Nasacort

Only your doctor can determine how much Nasacort you should use. The recommended starting dose for most adults and children age 12 years and older is 220 mcg or two sprays in each nostril per day. For children 6-12 years of age, the recommended starting dose is 110 mcg or one spray in each nostril per day.


Nasacort precautions

Stay away from people with chicken pox, measles, or any other type of infection. Your immune system may not be strong enough to fight off an infection while using Nasacort nasal spray.

Side effects of Nasacort

Serious side effects with Nasacort are not likely to occur. However, if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, or hives) stop using Nasacort and seek emergency medical attention. Other side effects that you may experience during treatment include the following: stinging or burning of the nose, sneezing after application, yeast infection in the nose or throat (white patches), inflammation or irritation of the throat, bleeding nose, perforated septum (inside center of nose), increased pressure in the eye, glaucoma, tearing of the eyes, headache or lightheadedness, nausea or upset stomach, fever, cough, ear irritation or inflammation, nasal stuffiness, runny nose, or unpleasant taste or smell.
