How to take Prempro
Follow your doctor's advice. The normal recommended dose for adult women is one tablet (containing 0.625 mg conjugated estrogens) once a day on days 1 through 14, followed by one tablet (containing 0.625 mg conjugated estrogens and 5 mg medroxyprogesterone) once a day on days 15 through 28. Once your monthly cycle ends, begin a new one. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Prempro precautions
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or if you are breast-feeding. Although the risk for developing breast cancer is low, it's still important that you have your beasts checked regularly. If monthly bleeding continues for an unusually long time, if your period has not started within 45 days of your last period, or if you think you are pregnant consult with your doctor.
Side effects of Prempro
Common side effects that may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine include abdominal cramps, breast pain, diarrhea, dizziness, enlarged breasts, increase in the amount of clear vaginal discharge, itching, joint pain, depression, nausea, painful menstrual periods, passing of gas, stomach discomfort following meals, and unusual tiredness. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine, and do not require medical attention. If you experience changes in your menstrual bleeding for up to 6 months, vaginal itching or irritation, thick vaginal discharge, breast lumps, discharge from breast, skin rash, pain or tenderness in the stomach, or yellowing of the eyes or skin check with your doctor as soon as possible.
