Zithromax description
Zithromax is a prescription medication used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, skin infections, ear infections, and sexually transmitted diseases.

How to take Zithromax
Take Zithromax exactly as prescribed by your doctor. For bronchitis, strep throat, pneumonia, and skin infections the normal dose for adults is 500 mg the first day followed by 250 mg a day thereafter. Remember, only your doctor can determine how much Zithromax you should take and for how long.
Zithromax precautions
During treatment, avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Zithromax may increase your sensitivity to sunlight. Also, avoid taking antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium. Antacids may decrease the effectiveness of Zithromax.
Side effects of Zithromax
Common side effects that may occur during treatment include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, unusual dizziness, fatigue, headache, vaginal yeast infection, rash, and/or increased sensitivity to light. If you experience any of these side effects, continue taking Zithromax and consult with your doctor. If more serious side effects occur, such as an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), or liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain or discomfort, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue) stop taking Zithromax and seek emergency medical attention.
